I'm pretty sure that this is how my family views my Ironman endeavors.

Leah D.: I am a 56 non-athlete forcing my aging body to unnatural feats of athleticism. I am training for Ironman Lake Tahoe scheduled for September 22, 2013. This will be my second Ironman attempt. I raced Ironman Arizona in 2010 but did not finish. I had trained for a relatively flat 112 mile bike course, but the course was very windy and I had not trained for that. Mid-way through the run portion of the race, my back was spasming fiercely and I could not finish within the allotted time. For my second attempt at an Ironman, I picked a race with a significantly more difficult bike portion. Lake Tahoe has a very hilly bike course – 5,240 feet of gain – at altitude. The bike starts at 6,248 feet and hits 7,228 at the highest point. I live at sea level. But, I have a plan. This blog is about executing that plan. I need to write it down and SEE how it looks. I like the idea of the accountability. And I do have family and friends that are interested in my progress. The rest of my family and friends just think I’m nuts. I will track my training, nutrition, and money spent. But don’t be surprised if a few pictures of the grandchildren show up from time to time.
